Running a business in today’s environment involves wearing a lot of different hats – from visionary to risk-taker, sales and marketing exec, HR manager, and many other positions. If you’re a mid-size firm, you have others to take over some of these responsibilities while as a small business owner you may end up filling most of these roles. Whatever size and type of business, the last thing you need to worry about is whether or not your insurance needs are taken care of properly.
That’s where Mountainside Insurance Management steps in. Our professionals will learn about your operation, determine the exposures that need to be addressed and implement an insurance program designed to respond. We’ll also help you mitigate the potential for loss and contain costs so you can focus on growing your business.
Working with a network of financially stable, top-rated insurers, we can secure the coverages you need to protect your property, employees, customers and assets. This includes but is not limited to the following:
We’ll take the time to explain the different options and coverage, so you can make the best decision on which plan works best for you
The right mix depends on your industry, number of employees, and assets, but most Colorado businesses start with three core coverages: General Liability for third-party injury and property damage claims, a Business Owner’s Policy (BOP) that bundles liability with property coverage, and Workers’ Compensation if you have employees (required by law in Colorado once you have even one). From there, coverage like commercial auto, cyber liability, or professional liability depends on how your business actually operates.
General Liability covers third-party bodily injury, property damage, and advertising injury claims against your business. A BOP bundles General Liability together with commercial property coverage (for your building, equipment, and inventory) into a single, typically discounted policy. Most small and mid-sized businesses that own or lease a physical location find a BOP more cost-effective than buying the two coverages separately.
Premiums vary widely based on your industry, payroll, revenue, location, and claims history — a low-risk consulting firm and a construction contractor will see very different rates for the same coverage limits. Rather than quote a generic number that may not reflect your risk, we run your specific business details across multiple carriers to find accurate, competitive pricing tailored to your operations.
Yes. Colorado law requires Workers’ Compensation coverage for virtually all employers with even one employee, part-time or full-time, with very limited exceptions. It covers medical costs and lost wages for employees injured on the job, and it protects your business from most workplace injury lawsuits in exchange for carrying the coverage.
Errors & Omissions (also called Professional Liability) covers claims that your professional advice, services, or work product caused a client financial harm — something General Liability doesn’t cover. If your business provides advice, consulting, design, or professional services of any kind, a client’s contract or industry standards often require it, and it protects you even if a claim turns out to be unfounded.
At minimum, review your coverage at each annual renewal, but you should also revisit it any time your business changes materially — new locations, new equipment, revenue growth, new employees, or new services offered can all change your exposure and leave gaps in outdated coverage limits.
